Alan Smith (Drums & Percussion)

Alan first started playing drums in 1986 when his dad bought him a drum kit as a christmas present. He spent many a time 'a rat tatting along' to Beatles songs. Eventually the drum kit was boxed up and put for safe keeping in his loft. Then in August 1997 Alan returned to playing,  dusting off his well kept silver Pearl Export Kit from the loft.  He studied drums and had lessons with Dan Gay a Drum Tutor from Chicago now residing in Great Yarmouth and a member of local group 'The Indigo Band' (see links page) gaining the knowledge required to be a successful musician. Alan's influences are Phil Collins, Dave Weckle  and Cozy Powell to list but a few. Alan's kit comprises of a Pearl Export Drum Kit and Paiste Cymbal's, he uses Vic Firth drum stick's and also own's a set of 'A' head drum sticks featuring Martin Sims Red Laser Led's (see Martin Sim's website).  He also owns a Yamaha DTX Pro Electronic Drum Kit System featuring hundreds of different kit's and sound's which he plan's to use at gig's in the future, triggering sounds and voicing's similar to Pink Floyd's style. Alan mic's his kit up with Thoman's T'Bone 2000 Drum microphone's when playing at bigger venue's to carry the quality of his sound. In the future Alan like to learn 'Jazz' drumming and one day be able to give tuition to fellow drummers.
